Down memory lane: trendiest hairdos, back in the year...
The Web is full of more or less extensive galleries of cult hair styles, but by choosing to give it a year-by-year spin, Katie Robinson has given a fun new angle to the round up of trendy hair cuts she compiled for New York-based magazine Seventeen.
For each year from 1970 to 2000, the journalist picked one style icon who best represents – or in some cases who launched – the trendiest look of the time. Drawing extensively from the movie and music scenes, notable examples include Ginger Spice's wild 'blorange' highlights (1998), Farah Fawcett's feathered look (1976), Jane Fonda's shag (1971), Winona Ryder's pixie cut (1994), Pam Grier's afro (1972), Sarah Jessica Parker's perm (1988), Blondie's punk rock bob (1978). And of course, Madonna's wrap up in 'Desperately Seeking Susan' (1985).
